dotIPSW is a straightforward site for finding and downloading IPSW firmware files for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It is built and maintained by Ivan, who started the site because looking up the right firmware for your device should not require navigating through cluttered pages or guessing which version is still signed.

What you can do here

  • Download firmware: Get direct links to IPSW files for every iPhone (iOS) and iPad (iPadOS), from the latest releases to versions no longer signed.
  • Check signing status: See which iOS and iPadOS versions Apple is currently signing, and which have closed, for every device model.
  • Check downgrade compatibility: Pick your iPhone or iPad and see which firmware versions can still be restored to it right now.
  • Verify IPSW files: Confirm the integrity of a downloaded firmware file with our browser-based SHA-256 and MD5 checksum verifier. Files are processed locally and never uploaded to any server.
  • Browse device history: View firmware timelines, support spans, and total release counts for every iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

How it works

We do not host firmware files. Every download link points directly to Apple’s content delivery network, so what you get is exactly what Apple distributes, unmodified and unchanged.

We aggregate publicly available firmware records and signing data through standard APIs, then verify and present it in a format that is easier to scan and compare. Signing status is refreshed from Apple’s signing servers every 10 minutes and the device list is rebuilt daily, so what you see reflects the current signing window.
